WOKKA SAKi creator nominated for Entrepeneur of the Year

Tim Day, the creator and Marketing Director of WOKKA SAKi (www.wokkasaki.com), has been nominated by Arena Magazine and O2 for its annual Entrepeneur of the Year Awards.

Influential style magazine Arena will be profiling the nominees and culminating in the Arena O2 X Club awards in London, where the winner will be announced amongst the Arena X Club Men of the Year.

WOKKA SAKi continues to impress, having been rated 'Exceptional' by the world renowned Chicago BeverageTesting Institute in 2005, and in the same year winning double Gold 'Best flavoured vodka' at the San Francisco International Spirits Competition.

Tim Day, 36, created WOKKA SAKi in 2002 and with his business partner Anthony Foster, Master of Wine, ambitiously chose the US as the brand's development market in 2005, where in Florida alone the brand became listed in 960 outlets within 4 weeks.Its creation was inspired by 'snow monsters' - a natural phenomenon in the landscape which he saw in Japan, created by western Siberian winds. The brand enjoyed its national UK launch in Autumn 2005 and is now distributed nationally across the US and Canada. In January 2006, it launched in Mexico, Belize, Panama and the US Virgin Islands, and is set to enter Australia and New Zealand later this Spring .

WOKKA SAKi 40% ABV is a blend of micro distilled British grain vodka, fine Japanese sake (80:20), and a subtle essence of Asian fruit.

The blend
A rare process of three-step micro distillation in a single, small 400 litre stainless steel pot still known as 'Tom Thumb', ensures the wheat grain vodka in WOKKA SAKi is exceptionally smooth. Fine imported Japanese honjozo-shu sake is then carefully blended with the vodka and a subtle fusion of Asian fruit is added that harnesses the character of WOKKA SAKi and gives it its distinctive flavour. This labour intensive process of single batch distillation and manual blending is reserved for only the finest and most expensive spirits. Production takes place at the 200 year old Thames Distillery in London under the expertise of master distiller, Charles Maxwell.
